Operation Teddy Bear-Tuscaloosa

We have had several inquiries asking how we help victims of tornadoes and/or natural disasters.  So, we decided to get everyone a fact sheet to answer questions.                                                                                                                                                                                          1. We are not a part of FEMA. We do not have any jurisdiction with helping you apply for assistance or getting approved with FEMA.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        2. We do not assist in managing insurance claims.                                                                                                                                                              3. We are a small tornado relief charity. We do not        provide funds to help victims with bills, utilities, etc. However when available, we do give gasoline gift cards, store cards and other items to verifiable victims.                                                                                                                                                                              4. While we do work with other not-for-profit charities, we do not have food to readily hand out. Rather, we suggest for immediate needs to visit Catholic Family Services at (205) 759-1268.                                                                                                                                                                                                                              5.  Employment? No, we do not hire outside help.  However, we do have volunteer positions available.  Contact us for a short volunteer application.                                                                                                                                                                                      6. We do not supply stuffed animals for birthday parties.. We suggest you look in the yellow pages for help with parties.

             7. The stuffed animals we receive are not meant to supply collector's wish list items. Should we find there has been a fraudulent request fulfilled, we will file a police report. We have been scammed 3 times, resulting in a loss of over 550+ stuffed animals.                                                                                                                                                                                                                       8. There is no charge for us to visit/deliver stuffed animals to tornado victims. Our costs are paid by monetary donations from the public. Once our IRS filing is approved, we will be able to ask for grant money.                                                                                                                                                                                                   9. Stuffed animal donations: We are accepting new and very gently used stuffed animals. Please contact us if you would like to donate or sponsor a bin for stuffed animal donations. We provide brochures, flyers, and bins!                                                                                                                                                      10.
